Gay-Lesbian Conference Announced
For April
Nine organization that defend
the rights of homosexuals,
transvestites and bi-sexuals,
announced yesterday the first
gay-lesbian conference to be
held in Costa Rica at La
Catalina de Barva de Heredia at
the end of April.
More than 150 people are
expected to participate.
Abelardo Araya, president of the
Movimiento Diversidad, said that
intention of the conference is
to analyze the cultural, social
and economic aspects focusing on
sexual orientation. "It will be
a time to exchange ideas and
experiences", said Araya.
The conference that will be held
on April 28 - 30, will also
focus on human rights, the
impact of AIDS in Costa Rica and
a proposal for a gay-lesbian
community on the next
Legislative agenda.
Araya said that a full press
release will be made following
the conference and the proposals
will be sent to president-elect
Oscar Arias and members of the
Legislative Assembly.
