Honduras Hails Cuban Healers
Honduras president Manuel Zelaya
said that the presence of Cuban
physicians in his country is a
great example of solidarity with
his people.
"This is special support for
us," the Honduran president told
Prensa Latina, shortly after
attending the Central American
Integration System (SICA)'s
Extraordinary Summit, taking
place in this capital.
Honduras and Cuba, stated Zelaya,
established relations around
four years ago, but solidarity
has been always present between
both peoples.
"We hope to appoint a Honduran
ambassador to Havana in about a
year, aimed at fostering
bilateral ties and interests,"
he said.
Zelaya, on his first trip abroad
after taking office in February,
attended along with Panamanian
Foreign Minister and First Vice
President Samuel Lewis the
opening ceremony of Cuba's
exhibition in the 24th
International Fair Expocomer
2006 which is being held here.
