Trade Fair Opens in Panama
Delegates from 32 countries
including Venezuela, Brazil,
Cuba, Mexico and Argentina are
taking part in the 24th
International Trade Fair,
Expocomer 2006, on Mar 8-12.
Fair Manager Carlos Rodriguez
told Prensa Latina that
transactions worth over 100
million dollars are expected
during the event.
We will have 11 trade missions,
28 pavilions and 32 countries as
a confirmation of Panama's
projection to become a world
business showcase, he explained.
During a press conference,
Expocomer 2006 Organizing
Committee chair, Jose Javier
Rivera, said that Brazil has the
largest stand, followed by
Taiwan. "The People's Republic
of China, Venezuela and Mexico
have large delegations, too," he
added.
He also highlighted the
delegations from Argentina,
India, Spain, Chile, Colombia,
Peru and Puerto Rico, as well as
trade missions of Cuba,
Venezuela, the US and Grand
Cayman.
"It is a window of opportunity
that allows Panama to take
advantage of events, including
recent signing of free trade
agreements with Singapore and
Chile, as well as the Colon
Free-Trade Zone, real estate,
and prospects of extension of
the inter-oceanic channel," he
said.
