9 FARC rebels killed in clashes with Colombian army
Nine rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) died on Sunday in clashes with the Colombian army in the departments of Caqueta and Choco, army officials said.

Six FARC members were killed in Florencia, a rural settlement in Caqueta, southern Colombia, where the army also seized explosives and other ammunition.

Another three rebels died in Quibido, capital of Choco department, close to the border with Panama.

FARC, with nearly 18,000 combatants, is the largest rebel group in Colombia.
