North
American Woman Dies In Fiery
Crash
A North American woman lost her
life early Sunday morning when
the vehicle she was driving
exploded and she was trapped
inside.
Demetria Maria Stone was driving
west of San José along the
highway to Santa Ana when about
2 kilometres west of the Sabana
park when the accident occurred.
According to Tránsito officials
(Traffic police) and witnesses
who did not want to be
identified, the woman lost
control of her Isuzu 4x4,
presumably she had fallen
asleep, hitting a concrete
abuttment and car flying in the
air from the impact.
Witnesses told police that, as
often seen in the movies, the
vehicle flipped in the air and
exploding on landing.
The impact was so great that
attempts to remove the woman
from the vehicle was not
possible and when Cruz Roja (Red
Cross) and Bomberos
(firefighters) came on the scene
of the accident, there was
nothing they could do.
Stone's body was taken to the
Medicatura Forense en San
Joaquín de Flores (Forensic
centre) in Heredia, for analysis
to determine the cause of the
accident.
