The Wedding of the Year in Hollywood Style But At Tico Pace
The wedding of Don Stockwell and Carolina Tejera yesterday was in full Hollywood style, planned to the last detail, but two hours late in typical Costa Rican fashion.

The couple, Don a local businessman and Carolina, known for her roles in "Gata Salvaje" and "Inocente de Ti", two Venezuelan "telenovelas" (soap operas), finally tied the knot yesterday after announcing their engagement last year.

The couple got married during a civil ceremony on Friday, held at the Marriott hotel, attended by close friends and family, while the religious ceremony took place yesterday at the Basilica de Los Angeles in Cartago and the party afterward at the Interncontinental hotel.

The ceremony was a complete show. Close to a thousand invited guests boarded one of the 12 buses that took the wedding party from Escazú to Cartago and back, that included actor Julio Gasset (Boberto) and the Puerto Rican beauty queen, Cinthya Olavarría.

The guests were to have left the Intercontinental by 5pm as the caravan would make its way to the Basilica, while an airplane flying overhead pulling a banner with "Don ♥ Carolina" would accompany them. The buses didn't leave the hotel until minutes before 7pm.

Some called the event the Tico version of the "Oscars", that included local personalities like Nadia y Nicole Aldana and Glenda Medina, and channel 7 anchorwoman, Mishelle Mitchell, who was compared to Halle Berry with her transparent dress.

By 9:30pm the couple were now married. A little hesitation on Carolina's part provided a moment of tension, when she began to speak the word "Yo, Don... ah, no!", followed by a moment of silence, as if she was scared, and then everything was back to normal.

Following the ceremony, the guests were taken back to the Intercontinental to enjoy the night of music, food and dance, as what is being called the "wedding of the year".
