Solís Accepts
Defeat, Arias Says It Was About
Time!
Though the Tribunal Supremo de
Elecciones (TSE) has yet to
"officially" proclaim the
president-elect, presidential candidate for the Partido Acción Cuidadana (PAC),
Ottón Solís, went on live
television last night to
accepting defeat in the February
5 elections.

José Removes 40 Families
Some 40 families that make up
more than 400 people were "desalojado"
- removed - from the precarios
(shacks used as homes build on
municipal property) of the area
called La Managuita, located in
Libertad 2 in Villa Esperanza de
Pavas, west of San José.
Taxi
Drivers Announce Strike
Action For Tuesday
Taxi drivers are not happy with
the backtracking by legislators
that would have eliminated "porteadores"
- informal taxi services and are
calling for a national strike by
all taxis for next Tuesday.
Bomb
Threats Evacuated San José
Airport
Authorities at the Aeropuerto
Internacional Juan Santamaría in
San José took the threats
against the airport terminal
seriously yesterday when a
caller warned of the existence
of a bomb. This was the second
such call in a week. The first
call came on Thursday the week
earlier and then again yesterday
morning.
Second
Death to Meningitis In One Week
A 28 year old man identified by
his last name, Carranza, is the
second victim of Meningitis in a
week. Carranza worked for meat
packing plant, Cooperativa de
Montecillos in Alajuela.
Jeremías Bravo, 24 years of age,
was the first victim, dying on
Monday.
