Mexican
Economists Analyze Economy
The 31st National Economists
Congress was opened Wednesday in
Mexico to debate an extensive
economic policy proposal for
sustainable development with
better levels of employment.
Oscar Guerra, president of the
Mexican College of Economists,
which has nearly 15,000
affiliates, said this topic has
special significance this year,
when general elections will be
held July 2.
Guerra invited presidential
candidates and their parties to
sign an agreement with concrete
measures, without regard to
election results, to guarantee
progress in economic and social
welfare.
He said a synthesis of the
conference agreements will be
delivered to the presidential
candidates.
The three-day event was attended
by Mexican authorities and
experts from other countries,
among them Cuban expert Roberto
Verrier, vice president of the
Latin American and Caribbean
Economists Association.
The economists are discussing
such topics as macro-fiscal
policies, decentralization,
monetary policies, economic
growth, and fighting poverty.
