El Salvador Marches against FTA
Salvadorian social organizations are continuing protests Wednesday against the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States.

According to Ricardo Monge, secretary general of the Workers´ Union at the Salvadorian Social Security Institute, they are rejecting all neoliberal policies to be imposed by the accord, that goes into effect today.

Yesterday, demonstrators include the Unity of Resistance for Social Justice, a new organization emerged from struggles against the FTA, William Huezo, leader of public servants, stated.

Also marching were workers of the Health and Education Ministries that were excluded from wage increase.

"This trade agreement will only bring more poverty to the country," said Marielos Pleitez, vice president of the National Association of Workers of the Public Health Ministry.
