TSE
Finds 992 "Lost" Ballots
Luis Antonio Sobrado, a
magistrate of the Tribunal
Supremo de Elecciones (TSE)
announced yesterday the finding
of 992 voting ballots, ballots
that were "lost" according to
some politicial parties.
According to the information
released by the TSE, only 23 of
the votes were valid and were
attributed to the totals of the
presidential candidates as
follows: two for the Partido
Liberación Nacional (PLN), nine
for the Unión para el Cambio (UPC),
ten for the Partido Unidad
Social Cristiana (PUSC), one for
the Unión Patriótica (UP) and
one for the Partido Acción
Ciudadana (PAC).
The found ballots will not
change the results as they stand
at the close of the manual vote
count last Wednesday, until the
magistrates of the TSE decide
what to do with the found votes,
according to Sobrado.
The 992 voting ballots found are
part of 3.908 voting ballots the
TSE has registered as lost.
Sobrado also announced that the
TSE is getting closer to making
an "official" proclamation as
495 of the 681 complaints
regarding the election process
have been settled.
The TSE is expected to announce
a president-elect as early as
next week.
