Colombia delivers drug
suspects to U.S., Puerto Rico
Colombia has handed over 10
suspected Colombian drug
traffickers to the United States
and Puerto Rico, Colombia's
National Police told reporters
on Monday.
Juan Carlos Ballesteros, known
as "the Boss of Heroin," was
extradited to the United States
to stand trial for heroin
possession and distribution at
the Florida South Court. He was
arrested in the southwestern
department of Cauca on July 27,
2004,
Also on the list are Hugo
Camallo Sanpedro, who is wanted
on drug trafficking charges by
the Southern District Court of
New York, and Carlos Mario
Montoya Ortega, who is wanted
for cocaine trafficking by the
Puerto Rico District Court.
The two suspects were arrested
on June 3 and June 12, 2005,
respectively.
Police said that in the year to
date they had delivered 38
suspects to the United States.
And during the four year term of
the incumbent president, Alvaro
Uribe, 320 suspects have been
transferred to Spain, Peru,
Canada, Argentina, Belgium,
Denmark, Venezuela, Brazil and
France, according to the police.
