Ecuadorian president approves
outsourcing labor law
Ecuador's President Alfredo
Palacio signed into law on
Friday a bill covering the
working conditions of laborers
who work for outsourcing
companies -- companies which
provide services to other
companies.
The bill, which affects more
than one million workers, says
the companies must share
revenues with the outsourced
workers, up to a maximum of 15
percent of the workers'
salaries.
The measure also says that the
company must directly employ 50
percent of the workers currently
on outsourcing contracts.
The bill has already been passed
by the country's congress, and
can be applied to hourly,
seasonal, fixed-term and risky
contracts.
