BUSINESS:
Pineapple Exports Increased
50,1%
During the first four months of
the year Costa Rica has exported
a total of us$2.574 million in
produce. This represents an
increase of 15,3%.
This is explained by increased
banana exports of 17,4% and by
an increase of pineapple exports
of 50,1% compared to the same
period last year.
Bananas have been the second
export product of the country,
with 7,2% of total exports.
Costa Rica exports bananas
mainly to the US, Germany and
the UK.
Pineapple exports amounted 5,3%
of the total, with the US, The
Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and
Germany as major destinations.
Melon exports represented 3,1%
of total exports.
