Unclaimed Vehicles a Problem For
Tránsito
Had your car or motorcycle
confiscated? The Policía de
Tránsito is asking owners of
confiscated vehicles to please
come pick them up, as they are
overcapacity at the three Área
Metropolitana (Pavas, Colima and
Cartago) depots.
Germán Marín, director of the
Policía de Tránsito, assures
that they have a big problem
with saturation of space at
various depots around the
country.
The Tránsito de Limón delegation
is up to their eyeballs in
motorcycles. The Alajuela,
Heredia and Cartago delegations
are filled with vehicles that
owners have not yet picked up.
More than 1.000 cars are being
stored at Pavas, Colima and
Cartago alone, director Marín
said.
A concern at the Limón
delegation is Dengue. Pedro Arce,
of the Limón delegation,
explains that the unused
vehicles a source for dengue
mosquito to propagate.
Marín explained that the same
concern is at all 23 Tránsito
delegations and that his
department is working on a
solution for a new location to
store the large number of
vehicles that have yet to be
claimed by their owners.
