Nicaragua Party to Find New
Candidate
Analyst Oscar Rene Vargas said
it would very hard for the
Sandinista Renovating Party to
keep the political room created
by charismatic presidential
candidate Herty Lewites, who
died of a hart attack.
"I think it will be very
difficult for Herty Lewites
supporters to keep the political
room he achieved," asserted
Vargas, speaking to TV Channel
12.
Surveys showed Herty Lewites
third in intention of votes
vis-à-vis the November 5
elections, behind Sandinista
National Liberation Front (FSLN)
candidate Daniel Ortega, and
Eduardo Montealegre, of the
Nicaraguan Nacional Alliance.
Lewites was very popular among
people, especially those in
Managua, where he was a major
between 2000 and 2004,
representing the FSLN by then.
He died of myocardial infarction
on Sunday.
