"Marea Verde"
The "maera verde" (green tide)
took over Paseo Colon yesterday
as the Partido Liberación
Nacional (PLN) held it's "plaza
pública", closing off Paseo
Colón, for the last big push of
the campaign to elect Oscar
Arias this Sunday.
Cold Front
Headed Our Way
According to the Instituto
Meteorológico - the weatherman -
we are in for a cold spell by
the middle of the week, as
strong winds will prevail, which
will also bring rain.
Largest Tourism Growth
Costa Rica was the Central
American nation most visited by
tourists last year, at 1.5
million, 19.2% more than
in 2004. That figure is almost
one fourth of the overall number
of visitors to the region.
Canopy Tours With Many Fans
Surveys done by the Instituto
Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) -
Costa Rican Tourism Institute - found that adventure
tourism is at the top of the
preferences of visitors, a full
40 percent of which said they
wanted to take a canopy tour.
U.S. Investment
Costa Rican Coalition for
Development Initiatives manager
Edna Camacho reported that 80% of the direct foreign
investment in Costa Rica in 2005
came from U.S. companies.
