Hospital
Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage
visited this city´s Children´s
Hospital to officially donate
medical equipment to the
center´s intensive care room.
Hours before returning to his
country, the Cuban delegation
that attended Evo Morales´
inauguration toured the health
center accompanied by its
director Juan Carlos Jarandilla
and the city´s mayor Percy
Hernandez.
The Jose Marti room, whose
entrance includes a plaque with
the Cuban hero´s phrase
“children are born to be happy,”
was opened in June 1987 with a
donation of equipment aimed at
saving minors´ lives.
Lage said that the center´s
technological renovation will
allow for quality service, and
this will be fostered with Evo
Morales´ triumph.
The Cuban vice president
recalled the recent signing of
bilateral agreements during
Morales´ visit to the Caribbean
nation, including 5,000 free
scholarships for Bolivian
students to study medicine in
Cuba.
During his visit here, Lage also
met with 30 Cuban specialists
and 25 Bolivian physicians
recently graduated in Havana
that work at the National
Ophthalmology Institute, as part
of Operation Miracle to restore
vision to hundreds of thousands
of Latin American and Caribbean
people.
The Cuban delegation was made up
of Minister for Foreign
Investment and Economic
Collaboration Marta Lomas,
Foreign Deputy Minister Rafael
Dausa, Ambassador Felipe Vazquez
