Drugs Penetrate Honduran
Police
A probe by the Honduran
anti-Drug Division (DLN) has
shown the police in that Central
American nation are plagued with
drug trafficking.
DLN Chief Gen (r) Julian
Aristides Gonzalez admitted the
involvement of lower-ranking
officers in some drug traffic
networks, offering protection
and tips on police raids, among
other assistance.
Aristides Gonzalez revealed that
some cases are already in court
while others are nearing
completion, and added that the
millions of dollars this scourge
moves around make it easy to use
bribery.
Several neighboring countries,
for example Guatemala, have
reported this problem affects
the higher echelon of drug
enforcement, including the
director, assistant director,
and many agents.
