Good Vibes for Cuban-Mexican
Youth
The Cuban youth delegation who
honored the founder of Cuba´s
University Student Federation (FEU),
Julio Antonio Mella, murdered 77
years ago in this capital, will
end this Friday five days of
fruitful stay here.
Led by Young Communist League (UJC)
second secretary Hassan Perez,
the group of young teachers and
professionals will wind up an
intense agenda with a meeting at
the Cuban embassy in Mexico.
Other activities here included
meetings with members of the
Permanent Legislative Assembly
Commission of the Federal
District, and with students of
the Sciences Faculty of Mexico´s
National Autonomous University (UNAM).
In one of the meetings, Mexican
student leader Melina Gonzalez
said "Cuba has taught us a lot
and has won respect of all who
are fighting for a better
world."
FEU president Carlos Lage
Codorniu talked of the most
recent transformations
undertaken in Cuba to
universalize higher education,
and how half a million Cubans
are taking university courses in
the country´s 169
municipalities.
The Cuban delegation arrived
Monday in Mexico to attend a
homage to Mella, also founder of
the Cuban Communist Party and
tireless anti-imperialist
fighter.
He was shot dead on January 10,
1929 by hired assassins of Cuban
dictator Gerardo Machado.
