Unjustly Jailed Woman Will Sue Government for $1 Million
Ivonne Jiméenez spent 9 years and 4 months behind bars, always claiming to be innocent of her conviction of murdering Alexis Murillo Rojas 11 years ago in Barrio de Carmen de Puntarenas. Yvonne had two young children when she was sentenced, now they are 17 and 19 years of age.

This week the Sala Tercera review of Ivonne's case and this week absolved the woman of the crime and set her free. She had been sentenced to 25 years prison. The court said that there wasn't sufficient evidence to have convicted the woman.

Ivonne, now free, and with two grown up children who were raised by a friend, is now trying to pick up the pieces of her life after being unjustly imprisoned.

Ivonne's lawyer announced yesterday that she will file a ¢500 million colones (us$1 million dollars) claim against the government.
