Did You Feel It?
An earthquake registering 5.9 on
the Richter scale was felt last
night at around 9:40pm. The
shake was felt throught Costa
Rica, originating in Panama,
from a collission of the Coco
and Nazca plates.
According to the Earthquake
Hazards Program of the United
States (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/Quakes/ushpad.htm)
the epicentre was located some
205 km south of David, Panama,
with a dept of 10Km.
The earth movement was felt most
in Sixaola and Talamanca in
Limón. The Central Valley and
southern zone (Golfito) also
felt the movement.
No reports of damage of injury
were reported.
The last quake of such magnitude
was felt on December 30 at
9:36am. That jolt registered
6.1.
