Earthquake of 6.7 Degrees Shakes

A strong earthquake of 6.7
degrees on the Richter scale
shook northeast Mexico Wednesday
with no victims or considerable
material damages reported.
Generally, a 6 Richter scale
means damage to poorly
constructed buildings within a 6
mile radius and a 7 is
considered a major earthquake.
Willebaldo Alatriste, director
of Civil Protection in the
northern state of Sonora, told
press they were five tremors
registered in this region from
Tuesday afternoon until early
this morning.
The first was on Tuesday at 6:05
in the evening with a 4.9
degrees magnitude, the second at
8:45 of 4.6 degrees, the third
at 01:30 this morning, the
fourth at 01:32 with 6.7 degrees
and the fifth at 02:17 with a
4.7 magnitude.
We are working with all the
Civil Protection units and the
engineers" school to assess the
highest buildings in the state
to rule out structural damage,
he added.
