Alleged Canadian Sex Abuser Back

A Canadian man identified as
William Robert
Lawrence, was on his way back to
Canada yesterday after being
detained at the Juan Santamaría
(San José) airport, stopped by
immigration officials as he
entered Costa Rica, wanted in
Canada for alleged sex abuses.
Immigration director, Johnny
Marín Artavia, confirmed
yesterday the man's detention
and escort by his immigration
officers back to Canada.
Lawrence was a police officer
with the Waterloo Regional
Police force in Ontario.
Lawerence, 41 years of age, was
wanted following a complaint by
family members that the man had
sexually abused a his daughter
during the Christmas holidays.
Waterloo police promptly issued
an arrest warrant and
coordinated efforts with Costa
Rican officials learning that
Lawrence has emptied out his
bank account and had purchased a
ticket to Costa Rica.
The Dirección de Investigación
Especializada (DIE) de Seguridad
Pública was alerted of the man's
impending arrival, who working
with immigration officials,
detained him on Tuesday when he
set foot on Costa Rican soil.
