Drop In
Gasoline Price Approved
The rollercoaster of gasoline
prices is again on the move.
Yesterday, the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) announced the
approval of a reduction in the
price of gasoline products. The
new prices will come into effect
once it is published in the
official government newspaper,
La Gaceta.
The reduction will see the price
for a litre of super gasoline go
fro ¢488 to ¢463, regular from
¢466 to ¢440 and diesel from
¢335 to ¢313.
what the reduction means is a
saving of ¢1.170 to fill a 45
litre tank with regular
gasoline.
This decrease is on the heels of
a steep increase only weeks ago
that saw gasoline prices almost
reach the high of ¢503 colones
per litre of super last year.
The Refinadora Costarricense de
Petroleo (Recope) says it asked
for a decrease due to lowering
price of crude oil on world
markers.
La Gaceta has five days to
publish the approval, which is
expected by the end of this
week. The new prices then come
into effect the following day.
For many, this is a chance to
get back at those gasoline
stations who close thier pumps
the day before a price increase,
so that they can take advantage
of selling the cheaper gasoline
at the new price.
