31% of Vehicles With License
Ending in 2 Have Been Inspected
For February
The month of February is almost
over and according to the
records of the annual vehicular
inspection firm, Riteve SyC,
only 31% of vehicles with plates
ending in 2 have been inspected.
That number represents 18.000
vehicles inspected and 40.000
remaining to be inspected.
All vehicles on Costa Rican
roads are required to submit to
an annual inspection. The time
of inspection is based on the
last digit of the license plate,
that is 1 for January, 2 for
February, 3 for March, and so
on.
Drivers of vehicles circulating
without the required inspection
are subject to a fine and
possible confiscation of the
vehicle.
Appointments can be made to any
of the 16 Riteve inspection
centres around the country by
calling 905 788 0000 or visiting
www.rtv.co.cr.
Remember, that is the vehicle
does not pass the initial
inspection, the owner has 30
days to correct the situation
and resubmit for a
re-inspection. All re-inspection
are to be carried out at the
same centre of the initial
inspection and costs 1/2 of the
original cost of inspection.
