Mexico City airport shuts down for hours due to power failure
A power failure knocked out a radar system at the Mexican City's airport Saturday, leading to the closure of the airport for nearly three hours, officials said.

Some 20 departures were delayed or canceled, and 12 scheduled arrivals were diverted to the western cities of Acapulco and Guadalajara or Veracruz on the Gulf coast.

Flights also landed in the northern city of Monterrey and in Morelia, in central Michoacan state.

A technical problem at a power substation caused one of the control tower's radar systems to go dark at about 4:15 p.m. local time (2215 GMT).

The airport reopened just before 7 p.m.
