Guatemala Hearty Ovation for
Pablo Milanes
Nearly 6,000 Guatemalans gave a
huge standing ovation to
prominent Cuban
singer-songwriter Pablo Milanes,
who sang love, nostalgic and
hope songs during his concert in
Guatemala City.
In his third concert in this
capital, Milanes´ songs such as
"Yolanda" and "El breve espacio
en que no estas," combined with
some included in his new album
"Como un campo de maiz" (Like a
corn plantation), were wildly
applauded by the audience at the
Conventions Center of the Tikal
Futura Hotel.
Shouting "Viva Cuba" (Long live
Cuba), Guatemalans joined the
Milanes homage to the local
youth.
One of the most emotive moments
was when the prominent singer
sang "Cancion de Cuna para una
Niña Grande" (A Lullaby for an
Old Girl), who he wrote for one
of her daughters when she was
pregnant.
But the greatest moment came
later, as the whole audience
chanted a happy birthday song
for his 63rd birthday and gave
him a huge mantle.
Before the concert, Milanes
stated he was feeling all right
and fulfilled in his career.
