Mexico
Bucks US Butting in
Organizations and figures
supporting Cuba in Mexico will
continue denouncing US
interference by applying
anti-Cuban laws in this country.
This statement reminds of what
took place two weeks ago when a
Cuban delegation was expelled
from the Maria Isabel Sheraton
Hotel in Mexico City, following
US Treasure Department orders.
Demonstrations defending
national sovereignty are
parallel to arrangements for the
11th National Meeting of
Solidarity with Cuba, scheduled
for February 25-26 at the
capital"s Working University.
Hundreds of academics and social
leaders demanded the government
give a firm response to the US
over its imposition in Mexico of
blockade laws for over four
decades against Cuba.
A statement by Mexican figures,
signed by dozens of people from
20 nations, was delivered
Thursday at the Foreign Affairs
Secretariat by their promoters,
among them the Mexican Movement
of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC).
The act is part of what is going
to be a permanent campaign of
the MMSC to maintain national
and international public opinion
informed and mobilized over
actions of the Sheraton hotel,
states a MMSC release.
