The 5th International Meeting on
Higher Education, Universidad
2006, continues Wednesday its
working session with the
analysis of challenges and
perspectives of this sector in
the world.
Today´s agenda includes
internationalization of Higher
Education, especially in Latin
America.
Cuban Education Minister Luis
Gomez said Tuesday that
transformations in teaching
ensure all people have the same
possibilities for access to
knowledge.
Gomez talked of the main changes
of this sector in Cuba, of a
group of innovations introduced
in all teaching levels, as well
as how the country has
implemented plans aimed at
achieving all people"s integral
general education.
Academics, teachers and experts
rejected the commodification of
education, which privileges an
exclusive group of people, and
fight for teaching that reaches
all the planet"s citizens.
With the motto "Universalization
of Higher Education for a Better
World," nearly 4,000 delegates
aim to solve problems of
education for everyone, examine
jointly this sector"s
transformations and analyze its
sustainability in the world.
The five-day forum will also be
used to exchange experiences and
results of studies linked to the
improvement of teacher training
and foster cooperation among
institutions and universities
worldwide.
