Fox
Allocates Public Resources to
Elections
Mexican opposition coalition "Por
el bien de todos" announced to
denounce President Vicente Fox
for using public resources in
support of the official
candidate for next elections in
July.
Leader of the Democratic
Revolution Party Leonel Cota
pointed out that the accusation
would be presented to the
Department for Electoral Frauds
of the Special Attorney´s Office
on Wednesday.
Cota highlighted the wide TV
coverage given to the success of
the Current Mexican
administration followed by spots
of the presidential candidate
Felipe Calderon, representative
of the National Action Party.
Fox´ expenses widely overcome
the resources devoted to the
2000 electoral campaign by the
former President Ernesto Zedillo
postulated by the Institutional
Revolutionary Party, added
Leonel Cota and said that the
president tries to politically
support Calderon by using merits
which are not his.
These accusations were rejected
by the Social Development
Secretary Ana Teresa Aranda,
arguing that President Fox is
just informing the people on the
destination of the resources
acquired through taxes payments.
