Blocks Colombia-US FTA
Disagreements on issues like
agriculture are forcing the
Colombian government on Friday
to delay the possible signing of
the free trade agreement (FTA)
with the United States,
scheduled for this weekend.
From Washington, where the 14th
negotiation round for that
agreement is developing,
Colombian Minister of Trade,
Industry and Tourism Jorge
Humberto Botero announced
deferral of discussions until
February 14.
The Colombian government ruled
out its intention to conclude
the talks for that agreement
this weekend at the latest.
Botero said he would prefer the
government and the private
sector to make an extraordinary
effort to have quality
negotiations.
