Arias Confident of A Win
Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN), Óscar Arias, is confident that he will obtain the required 40% of the popular vote and no need for a second round election. The former president assures that the Arista movement will triumph tonight.

Appearing on national television, Arias seemed confident of the results and the faith that Costa Ricans have in him and his ability to lead the country the next four years.

The PLN candidate predicted a 44% - 46% of the popular vote, contrary to his opponents who assured a second round election.

On the same national television, Ottón Solís of the Partido Acción Cuidadana (PAC) and Ricardo Toledo of the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana (PUS) did talk about winning the election by being elected, but rather, winning by the voters not giving Arias the majority required and condifent that they would win a second round.

The election results are expected to be official by 8:45pm.
