Offensive against Labor
Rights in Mexico
Mexican Electricians Union
Thursday announced an offensive
aimed at reforming the Federal
Labor Law to favor transnational
employees.
Leaders of that organization
declared that the order to carry
out changes on the legislation
is a foreign imposition part of
the neoliberal model applied in
the nation.
The document, issued in protest
against the foreign interference
on this important affair for
Mexican employees, described the
fact as a conspiracy against the
peoples only favoring
transnational interests.
The mass resistance against the
integral reform on the Federal
Labor Law has forced the
government and Congress to set
changes as the inclusion of
day-off dates in an assumed
attempt to favor family tourism,
a privilege so far enjoyable by
the minority while the big
crowds remain forgotten.
Mexican Electricians Union
called popular sectors to be
alert and united in defense of
their constitution and the
Federal Labor Law. Neither
Mexico nor Mexicans will be able
to stand another neoliberal
government, the union members
pointed out.
In the meanwhile, education
workers Wednesday evening
started to carry out actions in
protests against governmental
plans to privatize the social
insurance.
