Union Asks Voters Not to Vote Arias
An election without union leaders and workers of the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) would not be, thus the leaders of the Frente Interno de Trabajadores del Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (FIT-ICE) are calling on its membership NOT to vote for Oscar Arias.

The FIT-ICE believes that it is extremely dangerous giving political power to a person who already holds tremendous economic power in the country.

Jorge Muñoz, co-ordinator for the FIT-ICE, said "we want people to reflect before voting for Arias, who not only stepped over the political constitution, is also involved in big business." Muños referred to the deal that Arias is involved in that includes contracts with ICE, Pipasa, the Clinica Catolica, several radio stations and financial institutions.

Muños said that it would be wrong to give a man with so many ties to international businesses the presidential chair, fearing that he will sell out Costa Rica.

"The workers of ICE want all Costa Ricans to think about the serious importance of our message before voting on Sunday, keeping in mind the future of the nation and especially our sovereignty, which is being placed in jeapardy".

The union leader says that Arias is a liar when he says that his government won't privatize ICE and that the Arias of today has become arrogant and greedy.
