Government Gives Up
Convention Center
The project to build a
convention center in Costa Rica
with funds from Taiwan was filed
away by the Government.
President Abel Pacheco admitted
that addressing the emergency
resulting from the fire that
partly destroyed and killed 21
people at Calderon Guardia
Hospital is a priority.
"Unfortunately, with no little
pain, I have had to give up on
the convention center project. I
hope Costa Rica understand that
I couldn't build a convention
center, which can wait, instead
of allotting the funds for the
reconstruction of the hospital,"
President Pacheco said.
