Illegal Immigrants Try to Fool Police
It's early morning not far from the border crossing to Panama at Paso Canoas -southern Costa Rica - and an alleged soccer team is riding to a match in Palmar Sur - some 100 miles away -, where actually no rivals nor fans expect them.

The police are not fooled and the ruse fails to get several illegal immigrants further north, in their quest for the American Dream.

The disguises are not new to Tico agents, who have stopped illegals posing as peasants, as tired cyclists, overgrown high-school students, and so forth.

They hail from practically everywhere in the world, including Moroccans, Chinese, Ethiopians, Bulgarians, etc. Illegal immigrants move through Costa Rica on the way to the United States, even though many choose to join the hundreds of thousands who have settle here and which are straining the social services, among other issues.
