Verhofstadt received Cuba´s Minister of Foreign Affairs Felipe Pérez
Roque, who is visiting different European countries, and analyzed the
state of bilateral relations and issues of international politics in a
respectful and friendly atmosphere.
Pérez Roque began his tour in Strasbourg on Tuesday and met with
European Parliament President Josep Borrell. The Cuban diplomat handed
over to Borrel an invitation letter of Cuban Parliament President
Ricardo Alarcón to visit Cuba.
Pérez Roque also met with more than 40 European deputies of the Group of
Friendship with Cuba as an example of their sympathy and support to the
Cuban people.
The Cuban diplomat held talks in Strasbourg with European Parliament´s
Foreign Affairs Commission chairman Elmar Brok and European Parliament´s
Socialist Group president Enrique Barón Crespo.
Pérez Roque has met in Brussels with Flemish Socialist Party President
Steve Stevaert and Belgian Francophone Socialist Party President Elio Di
Rupo. The Cuban diplomat invited the Belgian Employment Minister Freya
Van Den Bossche to visit Cuba.
The Cuban minister will also visit Luxemburg country currently presiding
over the Council of the European Union.
