Calendar Promoting Abortion Caused Controversy
The Ministra de la Condición de la Mujer, Georgina Vargas, is in the hot seat over a calendar produced by her Ministry that promotes abortion.

Carlos Avendaño, a legislative deputy with the Partido Restauración Nacional (PRN) is asking president Abel Pacheco to fire the minister.

Vargas denies any role in the preparation of the calendar, claiming she nothing about it's content. Avendaño says "how can the Minister not know? How can she be head of the organization not know the contents of the calendar?".

The deputy is his letter to president Pacheco is asking for a thorough investigation on the origins of the project and wants the heads of those responsable.

The calendar has caused a lot of controversy and forced the government to "unauthorize" the production of the calendar published by the Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (Inamu), which falls under Varga's control.

For her part, First Vice President, Linneth Saborío said she will ask the Minister Vargas for an full explanation.
