Expoconstrucción on This Weekend
This weekend house buyers will have a great choose from the best construction materials and financing options as the Hotel Herradura, west of San José, hosts the annual construction exposition known as Expoconstrucción.

For those thinking of buying a house, one can see first hand the latest in construction techniques and products from the kitchen sink to a relaxing patio. Closets, ceramics, floors, bathrooms are on show. Owners of homes who are thinking of renovating as potential buyers can see all the different products on the market in one single location.

Bankers are also there to offer a "helping" hand. Banco Interfin, the largest of the private banks is offering six months free interest on various loan packages, while Banco Cuscatlán is cutting is commissions charged on loan by 50% and offering a us$250 credit if the loan is finalized before April 15.

Scotiabank, part of the Canadian Bank of Nova Scotia, is offering a 3% of the value of the loan credit that can be applied to others costs, like the loan fee. And Bac San José will extend loans for up to 25 years to those who sign a contract during the expo.

The state banks, Banco Nacional and Banco de Costa Rica, are also on hand, however their products are not as aggressive as those of the private banks. The mortgage loan business has grown steadily over the last few years and banks, both private and state, are competing to lend they money.

To take advantage of these great opportunities all you need is ¢1.000 colones (us$2.15), the cost of the entrance to the exposition.
