Castro cancels Uruguayan trip due to health problems
Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz canceled his Uruguayan trip due to health problems, Uruguayan president-elect Tabare Vazquez said Monday.

Castro had planned to participate in Vazquez's inauguration ceremony scheduled for Wednesday evening, but Cuban doctors recommended Castro cancel the trip to continue the recovery of his knees which were wounded accidentally last year, local media reported.

Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Ramon Perez Roque will lead the Cuban delegation for the inauguration ceremony.

The two countries had announced they would resume diplomatic ties after Vazquez's inauguration.

Uruguay broke off diplomatic relations with Cuba in 2002 after Castro described Uruguayan President Jorge Batlle as a "Juda" after Uruguay sponsored a UN resolution on Cuba's human rights record.
