IN MEMORIAM:
Linda Greissel
At
53 years of age, our freind,
Canadian Linda Greissel
passed away peacefully on
Friday, 14 January 2005 at
her house in Santa Ana.
Linda came to Costa Rica 12
years ago from Vancouver
Canada.
Our other dear friend, Les
Nuñez, writes about Linda:
"Linda flew Choppers from
the same Airport in Toronto
as I did while I was on
fixed wing for approximately
5 years. |

Linda at the Canada Day
Party 10 October 2004. |
Went out West
to British Columbia and ran one
of the biggest Car Dealerships
in Vancouver for several years.
Married, 1 daughter, husband
died many years ago but she was
very private about that part of
her life..."
Linda also managed Mac's
American Bar and then opened her
own Bar Central, Escazú for
approx. 9 years ran it since
then. Was associated or helped
the American Legion for many
years and was also a member of
the Canadian Club.
Diagnosed with Breast Cancer
approx 1 1/2 years ago, she
received chemo and all the usual
treatment.
Linda is survived by Mother and
Sister - Brenda, in Vancouver.
Frank Day, another friend of
Linda writes, "By now we all
have all gotten over the initial
shock of Linda’s passing, but
there will be no real closure
for a long time.
Linda touched all of us in her
own special way. I believe that
Linda would also feel that it
would be proper and fitting for
us to have a send off for her.
On Tuesday, January 18 at
3:00pm, I would like to have
celebration of Linda’s life. She
might prefer to call it an
‘Irish Wake’ given her
heritage."
Liz Howard posted the following
quote on Costa Rica Living
newsgroup that I believe
describes Linda’s attitude.
"Life is not a journey to the
grave with the intention of
arriving safely
in a pretty and well preserved
body, but rather to skid in
broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn
out and loudly proclaiming....
WOW!!!!! What a ride!!!!!"
