who are using its territory as bridge to move drugs,
Venezuela is planning to strengthen its legal
mechanisms to face this scourge.
Colombia Scandal Witnesses Summoned
Bogota - The Colombian Prosecutors Office summoned
150 witnesses Thursday, to give testimony on the
scandal on the illegal interceptions made by the
Department of Security (DAS) to magistrates,
politicians and opposition leaders.

Lima - Social protests continue in several Peruvian
regions for a third day, with people expressing
their dissatisfaction with the current economic

PERU: Three Days of
Anti-Government
Protests
Wednesday was the
second day of a
three-day strike
declared by trade
unions and social
movements in Peru to
protest the economic
policies of
President Alan
García. According to
the government, the
strike has been a
complete failure.
Labour Minister
Jorge Villasante
said "work has
continued as normal
in Peru. The protest
has not caught on
among the workers as
the organisers had
hoped."
