PAC Opposes ICE Bill, Saying It Will Leave 400.000 Costa Ricans Without Telephone Service
The Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC) announced yesterday that it will use every mechanism to ensure that the Legislative Assembly does not approve the "Ley de Fortalecimiento del Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE)" and the "proyecto de Ley General de Telecomunicaciones".
 

Costa Rican president Oscar Arias met with former presidential candidate, Ottón Solís of the Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC), yesterday. The meeting took place at the  Arias home and the difference between the two men on the subject of the free trade agreement known as the TLC as clearly visible. Arias is asking that Legislature vote on the trade deal and get it over with, while Solís, is committed to protests, following his trip to the U.S. last week, promoting his anti trade deal position.

Costa Rica Presents Charges Alcatel Case
The Fiscalía (prosecutors) in Costa Rica presented their first criminal charges after three years of probing alleged bribery involving the Latin American arm of French telecommunications company Alcatel, an official said Thursday.
