Protest Averted With Motion To
Eliminate El Porteo
In the face of possibly the
biggest demonstration by Taxi
drives come Monday, yesterday,
38 Legislative Assembly deputies
approved a motion that would
pretend to eliminate "porteo" -
the private or informal taxi
services.

Permanent Resident Cards to be
issued by Costa Rica to its

Sentenced Judge Continues On the
Bench During Appeal
A court judge sentenced for
sexual abuse continues at his
post. Judge Gerardo Calero
Miranda of the Saripiquí court,
was accused for the sexual abuse
of a 14 year old girl and
sentenced to 5 years prison.
However, since Calero has filed
an appeal, Calero continues at
his job and has area residents
fuming.
