AFP Claims Arias Win
Although the count is still ongoing - under 30% of the polling stations reporting - Forbes.com is claiming an Arias win based on a Agence France - Press (AFP) news agency report based on a "exit poll".

Arias Confident of A Win
Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN), Óscar Arias, is confident that he will obtain the required 40% of the popular vote and no need for a second round election. The former president assures that the Arista movement will triumph tonight.

Voting Booths Closed, Costa Ricans Await Results
Following 12 hours of voting the poll booths are closed and Costa Ricans are holding on to hear the final results. The Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE), will begin to offer voting results beginning at 8pm.

Former President Arias High Popularity Suggests He'll Be Re-Elected Today
Oscar Arias Sanchez, was the Nobel laureate who stood up to Ronald Reagan and drafted the peace plan that ended Central America's civil wars. Now, two decades later, Arias is back, looking to retake Costa Rica's highest office.

Every Vote Counts
Every vote counts and Costa Ricans are urged to get out today and vote. In San José, cars with flags waving and horns blowing began early this morning.
