El Vulcan.
This Peruvian national performs more than 26
circus acts, mostly on the streets of San Jose
for donations. He is accompanied by his family
while doing his acts, telling jokes, making
satirical and political comments to the crowds
while performing acrobatic fire acts. He
usually performs on Sundays from 11-4 in
Central Park.

Costa Rica Reaches
Free Trade Deal with U.S.
Costa Rica reached and agreement with
the Unite States on Sunday that will allow that nation to join four of its
neighbors in creating a Central American Free Trade Area with the United

Tico interns at NASA lab
Three young Costa Rican graduates from the
University of Costa Rica in engineering and physics, will serve as interns
monitoring the gases produced by the Vasimir plasma engine, which Costa
Rican-born NASA astronaut Franklin Chang designed as a means to power
spacecraft to travel to Mars.

Economy slows down
The rate of growth of Costa Rican production
remains on the down side. Last November, the annual variation of the Index
of Monthly Economic Activity was 4.2 percent, as compared to 4.9 percent

Quepos &
Manuel Antonio
Quepos is a fairly good sized town with
about 7,000 permanent residents, a large
hospital, banks, markets, stores,
hotels, bars, restaurants and main bus
terminal.
Manuel Antonio to the south is much
smaller and extends along both sides of
the road that stretches 4 1/2 miles up
the hill and them down to the Manuel
Antonio National Park.

A Great Day!
Today is a great day; it's a nice
bright sunny few hours that I as a free person in the world may enjoy the life
and liberties afforded to me as a citizen of the United States, yes, but also as
a citizen of the world as we know it.
Yesterday afternoon while visiting and old haunt my attention was drawn to a
couple of bantering oldsters bickering about each others beliefs in which
country
to live in comfortably. The conversation, getting louder and louder seemed to be
at a standstill when, I was asked to enter in with my "gringo" comments if I so
pleased.
