AyA workers in Santa Cruz, Tamarindo and Flamingo go on strike

August 1st, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Officials and employees of the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA) in Santa Cruz, Tamarindo, and Flamingo have announced a general strike beginning at 6 a.m. this morning.

According to Mario Rodriguez, a representative of the National Confederation of Workers and the AyA workers union said the action is the result of the breach of a May 4th agreement regarding employee expense reimbursements.

Rodriguez said that reconnections and installations of new service would be affected.

It is unclear if the strike could affect water service in general, or how long the strike could last.
