Airbus jetliner with 175 onboard makes emergency landing in Costa Rica

July 28th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) An Airbus A320 airliner with 175 people onboard was forced to make an emergency landing at Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria International Airport after suffering unspecified electrical problems Saturday evening.

The airport scrambled fire trucks and emergency vehicles as the plane flew several holding patterns near the Pacific coastal town of Jacó in order to eliminate excess fuel.

The airliner, operated by Peru’s LAN Airlines as flight LPE-599, was traveling from Cancun, Mexico to Lima, Peru.

Pilots were able to safely land the aircraft.  None of the 175 passengers and crew were injured in the incident.
