July 23rd, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) An improved route between Santa Cruz and Tamarindo is nearly ready, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT).
Work on the route, “27 de Abril-Villarreal,” is 95% complete, MOPT said. The route will provide a more direct connection between Santa Cruz and Tamarindo.
Work on the roadway came at a cost ¢4.4 billion, according to MOPT, and only 150 meters of the 13.5 kilometers roadway remains to be paved.
The National Roads Authority (CONAVI) also aims to build a bike path along the roadway, for which additional funding of ¢1.4 billion is pending.
