Six men will face trial for trafficking drugs by mail

March 18th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Six men identified by the last names Rivera, Castillo, Zakauscaus, Vargas, Montero and Medalin will stand trial tomorrow for international drug trafficking.  The men are accused of sending cocaine and receiving the drug “ecstasy” via the postal system.

 

The trial will take place at the Criminal Court of Pavas, beginning at 8 a.m.

 

According to an investigation by the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), the group mailed cocaine to Europe and also received by mail the drug “ecstasy” from Holland and Germany to sell in Costa Rica.

 

The men were taken into custody after a series of raids in August of last year.  The raids took place in Pozos de Santa Ana, Escazu, Zapote and Paseo Colon.

 

The trial is expected to conclude by Thursday, March 27th.
